Sandro C. Andrade, PhD
Dr. Sandro C. Andrade is an Associate Professor of Finance at the University of Miami School of Business Administration. Professor Andrade’s main research areas are International Finance and Investments. His research has been published in major academic journals, such as the Journal of Financial Economics and the Review of Financial Studies. Professor Andrade is Associate Editor of the Journal of Banking and Finance. Prior to pursuing his PhD in Finance at the University of California, Berkeley, Professor Andrade was a Senior Advisor at the Central Bank of Brazil
Indraneel Chakraborty, PhD
Indraneel Chakraborty received his BTech from the Indian Institute of Technology, Guwahati in 2001, his MS from Massachusetts Institute of Technology in 2003, and his PhD from the Wharton School, University of Pennsylvania in 2010. He joined UM in 2015.
In 2013, Chakraborty’s co-authored paper received the Marshall Blume Award in Financial Research awarded by Jacobs Levy Equity Management Center for Quantitative Financial Research, The Wharton School. In 2010, he was awarded the Shmuel Kandel Award, awarded to an Outstanding PhD Student in Financial Economics, at the Utah Winter Finance Conference. In 2001, he was awarded the President of India Gold Medal at IIT, for achieving the highest GPA among all graduating students.
Chakraborty holds six patents worldwide on Bluetooth Wireless Technology. His computer science publications include works on roller bearing optimization using genetic algorithms, wireless network synchronization and transmission scheduling algorithms.
Brian Barrett, PhD
Brian Barrett is an Associate Professor of Finance at the University of Miami. He received a PhD from the Georgia Institute of Technology. In 2008, he received the “Excellence in Teaching” award. In addition, he has several publications and served as the President of the Eastern Finance Association from 2012 to 2013.
Henrik Cronqvist, PhD
Dr. Cronqvist received a PhD in Finance from the Booth School of Business at the University of Chicago, and an MS in Economics and Business from the Stockholm School of Economics.
Dr. Cronqvist has extensive teaching experience in the U.S., Europe, and China related to corporate valuation, investment banking and M&A, corporate governance, and private equity at the MBA, EMBA, and PhD levels. He has also developed many business cases, clinical studies, and simulation models, which illustrate complex financial transactions and management decisions. He is also active in executive and entrepreneurial education and coaching, and he has designed, delivered, and managed open and in-company education programs in emerging financial markets in Asia and Latin America. Dr. Cronqvist provides frequent consulting advice to multinational companies in the areas of corporate finance and managerial decision making.
Douglas R. Emery, PhD
Douglas R. Emery specializes in corporate finance and has taught at Purdue University, Washington University, the University of Missouri, the University of Calgary, Binghamton University, and Nanjing University. Doug has coauthored seven books, including Corporate Financial Management and Debt Management: A Practitioner’s Guide. He has also authored or coauthored more than 30 articles in a wide variety of journals, including The Journal of Finance, the Journal of Financial and Quantitative Analysis, Financial Management, and the Journal of Accounting Research. For more than six years, he served as editor (with John Finnerty) of Financial Management, is currently an advisory editor for The Financial Review, and has served as an associate editor of The Journal of Financial Research, the Journal of Applied Finance, and Decision Sciences, among others. He holds a PhD in business and an MBA from the University of Kansas, and a BS in physics from Baker University.
Michael Fuerst, PhD
Michael Fuerst holds a PhD in finance and an MA in applied economics from the Ross School of Business at University of Michigan. He also holds an MBA from the Johnson School of Management at Cornell University. Prior to entering academia, Dr. Fuerst was a management consultant within the telecommunications practice at Deloitte & Touche.
He currently teaches international and corporate finance at the graduate and undergraduate levels. His research focuses primarily on time series analysis of asset prices and the macroeconomy and on theoretic modeling of financial institutions. He has published in various academic journals, including the Journal of Financial Economics, the Journal of Financial and Quantitative Analysis, and the Journal of Macroeconomics. Dr. Fuerst consults in the areas of forensic economics and firm valuation, and he holds the Certified Valuation Analyst credential of the National Association of Certified Valuators and Analysts.
George Korniotis, PhD
Professor George Korniotis, Ph.D. received the most prestigious academic award at the University of Cyprus, earned his doctorate at Yale University. He has been a University of Miami Faculty member since 2010.
George Korniotis is an Associate Professor of Finance at the University of Miami School of Business Administration. Before that, he taught at the University of Notre Dame and served as a Financial Economist at the Federal Reserve in Washington, DC. He completed his undergraduate studies at the University of Cyprus in 1998 and received his doctorate from Yale University in 2003. His work has been published in various academic journals and featured in The Wall Street Journal and The New York Times.
Alok Kumar, PhD
Alok Kumar received his undergraduate degree in mechanical engineering from the Indian Institute of Technology at Kharagpur and a PhD in economics from Cornell University. He also has advanced degrees in robotics and management from Dartmouth College and Yale University, respectively. Professor Kumar’s research interests lie at the intersection of finance and psychology. He is an expert in the area of behavioral finance, and his work has appeared in top finance, accounting, economics, and management journals such as The Journal of Finance, the Journal of Financial Economics, The Review of Financial Studies, the Journal of Accounting Research, Management Science, Games and Economic Behavior, and The Review of Economics and Statistics. His research has also been covered in The Wall Street Journal, The New York Times, The Washington Post, the Montreal Gazette, Forbes, and SmartMoney. Professor Kumar has served as a consultant for several firms, including the Commonfund, Postnieks Capital Management, Validea, and Bluecrest Capital.
Lorenzo Naranjo, PhD
Dr. Naranjo is an award-winning Assistant Professor of Professional Practice. He has also taught at universities in Chile and France and has several publications in leading finance and economics journals. Dr. Naranjo earned his BSc and MSc in Engineering degrees at Pontificia Universidad Catolica de Chile, and his MPhil and PhD in Finance at New York University. His areas of specialization include asset pricing, derivatives, international finance, investments, and market structure.
Ricardo J. Rodríguez, PhD
Dr. Rodríguez earned his degree in electromechanical engineering from the Universidad de El Salvador in 1974, graduating top in his class. In 1977, he graduated with distinction (first place) from the MBA program of INCAE, in Nicaragua. His doctoral degree in finance is from the University of Texas at Austin. Since 1985, he has worked at the University of Miami, where he is an associate professor of finance.
Professor Rodríguez has published numerous articles in prestigious academic finance journals. His research has been quoted in The Wall Street Journal, Psychology Today, and other periodicals. In addition, Professor Rodríguez is the co-author of four finance textbooks.
Tie Su, PhD, CFA
Associate Professor of Finance Tie Su, PhD, CFA is an Associate Professor of Finance at the School of Business, University of Miami. He holds a bachelor’s degree in statistics from Beijing University, a master’s degree in statistics and a PhD in finance from the University of Missouri, Columbia. Dr. Su specializes in financial derivatives and investments. He has strong interest in option pricing and market micro-structure. His research work has appeared in the Journal of Financial Economics, Journal of Business, Journal of Financial and Quantitative Analysis, Management Science, and Financial Management, among others.
TIMOTHY BURCH, PHD
Timothy Burch is an Associate Professor of Finance and Academic Director of the MS in Finance program at the University of Miami. He has a PhD from the University of Michigan, has been published in several academic journals, including The Journal of Business and The Journal of Financial Economics, and has won many awards including the University of Miami School of Business Excellence in Research Award in 2003 and 2004.
